Mayumi Maruyama is an experienced journalist who has been working in this field for over a decade. She has traveled to more than twenty countries and has spent time living in four of them. Mayumi started her career at NHK Japan Broadcasting Corporation, where she reported on US news for Japanese viewers. She covered some significant events, including two presidential elections, mass shootings, and social issues like the legalization of gay marriage and Black Lives Matter. After that, she joined the Peace Corps in Ukraine, where she produced video content for local NGOs, government organizations, and UNHCR. Mayumi later worked for CNN first at the headquarters in Atlanta and then in Hong Kong, where she covered important Asian news stories, including the assassination of former Prime Minister Shinzo Abe.
